Tein lauantaina erään yrityksen kirjanpitoa tietokoneella kunnes havahduin siihen että aurinko paistoi. Ajatuksissa oli vain kirjanpidon ajan tasalle saattaminen kunnes järki voitti: ensinnäkin, tauko tekee hyvää ja toisekseen auringonpaiste tekee hyvää mielialalle. Ja tietysti kolmanneksi: ulkoilu tekee hyvää Nellille.

I was doing some work on Saturday until I realised that the sun was shining. I had a deadline in my mind until sense prevailed: firstly, a break is good for you, and secondly, the sunshine lifts your spirits. And, of course, thirdly, going out with Nelli is good for her.

Tein päätöksen ripeästi ja kymmenen minuutin sisään olimme valmiita lähtemään. Hyppäsimme autoon ja menimme jälleen Pitkäkosken koirapuistoon. Olemme olleet siellä myös parina edellisenä viikonloppuna ja siellä on ollut mukavasti muita koiria. Viime viikonloppuna puiston pienten puoli oli selkeästi varattu mäyräkoirille, joita siellä oli viisi ja muun rotuisia ei jostain syystä ollut puistossa ollenkaan.

I made a quick decision and in ten minutes we were ready to leave. We jumped in the car and we went to Pitkäkoski dogpark. We've also been there a few weekends back, and seen other dogs. Last weekend the small part of the dogpark was clearly reserved for dachshunds, there were five of them and not others.

Yhden yhtäläisyyden löysimme kaikista paikalla olleista mäyräkoirista: mutakuoppa on herkkua! Onkohan joku hukkunut siihen koirapuiston mutakuoppaan vai mikä ihme siinä tuoksuu
niin hyvälle että sitä pitää olla koko ajan maistelemassa. Olin tietenkin ollut siinä luulossa että vain minun koirani on vähän pöpi... Senkin olimme huomanneet että muun rotuisia ei paljoa mutakuopan luona näy.

There is one common thing among Dachshunds (those present that day): mud is a treat! I wonder if someone drowned in the mud pit in the dogpark, or wonder what in there smells so good that on every possible occasion one of the doxies was eating mud. I had, of course, been in the belief that only my dog ​​is a bit nuts about mud...  We had also noticed that the other breeds were not so into mud pit.

Oli muutama astetta pakkasta mutta silti varpaat ja sormet melkein jäätyivät. Tänä lauantaina sain otettua jopa muutaman kuvan.

It was cold and my toes and fingers almost froze. This time I even took a few pictures.

On se hassua kuinka huomioliivit hidastavat vauhtia. Normaalisti Nelli kipittää portaat alas valonnopeudella.

It's funny how the vest slows pace. Normally, Nelli scampers down the stairs to the speed of light.

Eräänä lauantaina teimme treffit Oskun ja hänen Emäntänsä kanssa Kaitalammelle. Treffasimme parkkipaikalla ja lähdimme siitä kävelemään. Nellin ja Oskun tapaaminen oli viileä. Osku herrasmiehenä kesti Nellin lähentelyt mutta ei lähtenyt mukaan leikkiin.

Nelli oli taas aivan onnessaan kun pääsimme Kaitalammen rantaan. Se kävi monessa paikassa kastelemassa tassut ja maistelemassa vettä, pitihän sitä tarkistaa että vesi on tasalaatuista. Osku taas pysytteli mahdollisimman kaukana vedestä.

One saturday, we made a date with Osku and his Owner to a recreation area called Kaitalampi (which translates as “Slim pond”). We met in the parking lot and started to walk. Nelli’s and Osku ‘s meeting was stand-offish. Osku the gentleman tolerated Nelli, but didn't want to play.

Nelli was again so excited when we reached the shore. She was constantly stopping to wet her paws and taste the water making sure it was homogenous. Osku stayed as far as possible from the water.

Kävelimme Vihdintien alitse seuraavalle lammelle (alueella on useampia), joka on Halkolampi, ja sen toiseen päähän, jossa on grillikatos. Grillikatoksia on useampia mutta valitsimme paikan koska oletimme, että syrjäisemmällä on vähemmän muita ihmisiä. Valinta oli oikea, olimme ainoat sillä paistopaikalla.

We walked to the next pond (there are several in that area) and to the other end of it, cause there is a grill. We picked that specific place (there is more than one grill) as we thought its secluded situation guaranteed less other people. We were right, we were the only ones at that spot.

Kuten tapana on, edelliset kävijät olivat jättäneet tulen grilliin, joten laitoimme lisää pökköä pesään ja istuimme ihailemaan kauniin syksyistä maisemaa (no siitähän en sitten kuva ottanutkaan). Paistoimme makkarat ja koiran saivat omat herkkunsa. Kun herkut otettiin repusta, olisi Nelli ollut heti valmiina syömään oman osuutensa.

As custom is, someone who had been at the grill previously had left the wood burning so we added some wood and sat down to admire a beautiful scenery (of which I didn't take a picture). The sausages were grilled and eaten. When food was taken from the backpack, Nelli would have wanted her share of it straight away.

Kun olimme lopettaneet, eräs pariskunta tuli paikalle ja me lähdimme kävelemään takaisin päin. Matkoineen päivineen koko reissu kesti lähes 3 tuntia.

When we were finished, a couple arrived and we started to walk back down. Including the short journey by car the whole trip took almost 3 hours.

Ai niin - lopulta koiratkin leikkivät keskenään.

Oh, by the way - at the end the dogs started to play together.

Happy birthday Nelli!

Siis toi mun mamma on totaalisesti johdatettavissa oleva. Mä otan kontrollin ihan heti ulko-ovella ja sehän tulee perässä (no, ainakin joskus).

Mun lempipaikka on koirapuisto ja sinne mä vien mun mamman ulkoilemaan. Määrätietoisesti. Siellä olis yleensä tosi paljon valokuvattavaa mutta tilanne on edelleenkin sellanen että ei se muista ottaa kameraa mukaan. Kattokaa nyt vaikka tätä kuvaa, tästä olis tullu tosi hieno kameralla otettuna. Onneksi sillä sentään oli kännykkä taskussa.

My mom is so totally on my lead. I take control right from the door and she follows obediently (well, sometimes anyway).

My favourite place is dog park and that is where I take my mom. With resolution. There are plenty of things going on that should be photographed but she still doesn't remember take her camera with her. Like look at this picture, this would have been so cool picture taken with a proper camera. Well, at least she had her mobile phone in her pocket.

Tässä mä ja Rocky otetaan matsia siitä, kenelle keppi kuuluu. Välillä mä voitin ja välillä taas mä annoin Rockyn voittaa. Kun mä olen tällainen reilu mimmi.Tällä kertaa me oltiin ensin pienten puolella ja kun kaverit lähti kotiin me mentiin isojen puolelle, jossa Rocky oli yksin. Se pyysi haukkumalla mut seurakseen joten me mentiin sen kanssa leikkimään. Me ollaan muuten samanikäisiä kavereita mutta voihan veljet kuinka paljon isompi Rocky on!

Mamman mielestä oli kylmää ja vähän jo pimeääkin mutta ei mun mielestä - oli tosi kivaa!

Now here me and Rocky are fighting over a stick. We both won - like first me and then I would let Rocky win. I'm a fair gal. This time we were on the small dog side first and when my pals left we went to the big dog side were Rocky was all alone. He barked like he was asking me to play so we changed sides. Byt the way, we are both 11 months but boy is he bigger than me!

Mom thought that the night was cold and it was already getting dark but I didn't mind - I had loads of fun!

Weird picture No 1

Now what is this? I guess it might take a while to guess... but then again as this is a dog blog guessing is easy.

Kävin Suomisoffan konkurssimyynnissä kiertelemässä ja ainoa mitä ostin oli tämä. Hinta huimat 3 euroa. Iso karvainen Poro leluksi Nellille. Kyllä kelpasi, Nelli puri rikki naaman aivan ensimmäiseksi. Tällä hetkellä ei ole kuin "nahat" jäljellä.

I wandered through a bankcruptcy sale and this was the only thing I bought.  Price was 3 euros. A big hairy raindeer as a toy for Nelli. She liked it, but poor raindeer's face got the first bite. At the moment only the "skin" remains.

Tämä taas on Nellin ruokaa. Nelli syö kyllä  "Royal Canin Mäyräkoira" -nappuloita mutta osan siitä korvaan luilla ja rustoilla yms. Ja näistä tykätään kovasti.

This is food for Nelli. She does eat "Royal Canin Dachshund" but I replace part of it with bones and cartilage and other things. And these are very much her favourite. 

Kauniilla ilmalla teemme aina pitkä kävelylenkin, ajallisesti vähintään tunnin verran. Tässä pieni kuvakertomus eräästä lenkistä lokakuun alkupuolella.

Each day when the weather permits, we take a long walk, taking at least an hour. This is a small pictorial of such a walk at the beginning of October.

Pihalla ja parkkipaikalla - syksy on jo tullut. Huomaa Nellin häntä - itsevarmuutta riittää niinkuin mäyräkoirilla yleensäkin.

At the yard and parking area - the fall has arrived. Do notice Nelli's tail - she has loads of confidence, a true dachshund.

Lyhyt matka metsään on kävelty - täältä löytyy kivoja hajuja ja ääniä ja kävely on mukavampaa kuin asfaltilla. Ehkä metsä on turhan juhlallinen termi koska tällä alueella on hiekkateitä ja metsässä hyvin tallottuja polkuja.

After a short walk we are in a wood - here are nice smells and sounds and walking is nicer than on asphalt. Perhaps forest is too solemn a word because this area is has dirt roads and well trampled trails.

My little girl found a stick :)

Tämä on lasten lempipaikka talvella. Mäki on jyrkkä ja talvisin valaistu. Täydellinen paikka mäenlaskulle!

This is children's favorite place in the winter. The hill is steep and lit in the winter. A perfect place to come downhill with a sledge.

Metsästä tulimme pientaloalueelle. Kamera ei kerro totuuta, luonnossa tuo punainen puu oli tosi komea.

From the wood we came to an area with single-family houses. The picture does not repeat the colours correctly - especially that red tree was really pretty.

Lähistöllä on viljelypalstoja, jos oikein muistan niin nämä on vuokrattavissa 4-H yhdistykseltä.

Next stop was this allotment area (for growing your own food), if I remember right these can be rented from 4-H.

Tämä on varmaan jonkin kauan aikaa sitten eläneen hirmuliskon luuranko.

This must be a skeleton of a dinosaur who lived here ages ago.

Tai sitten ei.

Or maybe not.

Tämän jälkeen sukelsimme taas metsään vähän matkaa ja päädyimme urheilukentän reunaan. Kompleksiin kuuluu myös jäähalli plus harjoitushalli, jalkapallokenttä (ulko- ja sisä) ja sisäpelihalli.

Then we dived back to wood and then ended near this sports field. The complex also includes ice rink plus training hall, a football field (indoor and outdoor) and a place for indoor sport.

Päämääränä oli koirapuisto. Istahdin penkille ja neiti Nelli tuli syliin ja katseli isojen koirien puolelle. Pienten puolella ei tällä kertaa ollut muita koiria.

Our goal was a dog park. I sat on the bench and miss Nelli came to my lap and looked from afar to the other side where there were bigger dogs.  We were the only ones on our side.

Nyt joku on rapussa, pitää mennä kuuntelemaan ja ilmottaa mammalle...

Mutta nämä kyllä ovat MUN!

Innokas kutoja on jälleen istunut sohvan kulmalla tikutellut menemään. Valmista tuli osaksi siksi, että olin jokin aika sitten flunssassa ja siksi pari päivää kotona. Kyllä oli mukava nukkua pitkään, istua sohvalla, juoda lämmintä juomaa, katsella telkkaria ja kutoa. Paitsi että koira herätti aamulla kuuden jälkeen, väsytti, yskitti ja oli tukkoinen olo... Noh, toisarvoista :)

Naisporukalla on lokakuun loppupuolella tapaaminen ja tämä huivi menee emännälle lahjaksi. Saa nähdä millainen vastaanotto on tällä kertaa. Yllätyslahja = yllätysreaktio. Nautin kuitenkin siitä, että voin tietylle henkilölle suunnitella mitä kudon, mitä lankoja käytän ja mikä tulee olemaan neuleen väritys. Ja toivon että lopputulos jollakin tavoin heijastaisi niitä lämpimiä ajatuksia, joita minulla on vastaanottajaa kohtaan.

Huivista tuli unelman kevyt ja vaalea harmaa toisena värinä on ihana. En ole muistanut punnita huivia mutta se painaa varmasti alle 50 g. Toivon, että huivi on sopiva kiireiselle johtotason business-naiselle, joka käyttää vaatetuksessaan paljon mustaa.

An avid knitter has once again been sitting in the sofa corner and clicked away. This was finished, partly because some time ago I had a flu and therefore, spent couple of days at home. Yes, it was nice to sleep long in the morning, to sit on the couch, drink something warm, watch the telly, and knit.  Except that the dog woke me in the morning after six, I was tired, coughing and had a stuffy nose... Well, that's secondary :)

My friends and I have a meeting in late October, and this scarf goes to the hostess as a gift. We'll see what kind of reception I get this time. Surprise Gift equals Surprise Reaction. However, I enjoy the fact that I can design something to a specific person, think what yarn, which pattern and what colours to use. And I hope that the finished product somehow reflects my warm thoughts to the recipient.

The shawl became as light as a dream and the light gray as second colour is wonderful.  I didn't remember to weigh the shawl, but it certainly weighs less than 50 g. I hope it suits a busy executive-level business woman, who wears a lot of black.
